Following a presentation I did at the Australian Professional Video Producer Awards Conference in Melbourne, I was asked by Ben Amos, Engage Video Marketing, if I’d like to talk more about my unique approach to navigating LinkedIn using the power of storytelling on his podcast, Engage with Story. This is Ben’s weekly podcast exploring how digital storytelling, content creation and marketing engages an audience and moves them to take action through stories.

Finding My Happy Place Amongst Visual Storytellers

Being at this conference felt like I was in my ‘happy place’, listening to Video Producers, Cinematographers, Professional Editors and Directors of Photography describe their approach to storytelling, narratives, visual images, words and music to engage their audiences.

A highlight (and there were many) was hearing from Sue Maslin, who is one of Australia’s most successful film, television and digital content producers. With a track record of creating award winning feature and documentary films, her most recent is the smash hit The Dressmaker, starring Kate Winslet and Judy Davis. It grossed more than 20 million at the box office and garnered the highest number of nominations at the 2015 Australian Academy Awards, winning five including the coveted People’s Choice Award for Favourite Australian Film.

We also heard from:

When I first began sharing my insights at the conference, Ben heard me mention I’m a storyteller, and craft words via my client’s LinkedIn Profiles and LinkedIn Articles to help them achieve their professional goals.
